Mia Horton Interior Designs
Mia is one of my longest-standing clients, having worked together on numerous projects over the past few years. Even back in my TV Commercials days (Mia was a junior Art Director for an Ad Agency in Manchester at the time)myself and Mia worked together on a variety of projects. These days, Mia and I work together on interior design projects (bathrooms, kitchens, lounges) and is a very talented Interior Designer, Art Director and artist, splitting her working week between being a Creative Director for a B2B agency in Manchester, creating her own art at ‘Hey Scandi!’ and designing interiors for her Cheshire-based clients. Mia is a highly sought-after interior designer in Cheshire, creating bespoke artworks for finished projects, or designing the entire restoration works from footings to finished build.
Rose & Grey in Altrincham
As an experienced Branding Photographer Manchester, Mia asked me to do a photoshoot with her on location in Altrincham, at one of her favourite places - Rose & Grey.
Rose & Great are a bespoke online home styling company, with a showroom and warehouse in Altrincham. They know Mia well, as she buys a lot of their products for her design projects. So, they basically threw the keys at us and let us go and shoot where we wanted! Rose & Grey describe themselves thus….
“At Rose & Grey, we believe exceptional quality and timeless design go hand in hand. We specialise in design-led homeware, premium furniture and luxury made-to-order sofas. Fusing creative design and expert craftsmanship for 15 years, celebrating interior style and creating homes that spark joy season after season.
Lyndsey and Guy Goodger, the visionaries behind Rose & Grey, founded the brand back in 2008 when buying furniture online was relatively unheard of, launching with a small online boutique and one small capsule collection. By 2016, Rose & Grey had outgrown its roots and moved into a much bigger warehouse and new Altrincham showroom. This allowed customers to experience our products first hand and speak to our in-house interior specialist for professional home styling advice anytime they drop in.
Rose & Grey has continued to grow each year, employing a close team of specialists who all contribute to the brand's success. Regardless, Rose & Grey still remains true to its independent, family-run roots, achieving an award for platinum customer service and receiving hundreds of 5* ratings from customers. With decades of experience, our tastemakers excel at identifying upcoming interior trends. We take pride in our ability to curate design-focused pieces and present them in innovative ways, inspiring you to craft a living space that speaks to your unique style. As pioneers in design, we celebrate different aesthetics and exceptional craftsmanship, reshaping how you experience your home and igniting a passion for interior styling”.
Photoshoot at Rose & Grey Altrincham
We used three main areas for this branding shoot at Rose & Grey; the main showroom, the warehouse and the rear delivery yard. As a Branding Photographer Manchester my job is to create modern, fresh images to represent my clients’ style and personalities - often with a little fun thrown into the mix. Mia needed new headshots, plus photos of her at work, designing on the laptop, choosing fabrics etc. We moved furniture around the stunning showroom (very carefully!!) and set up for the headshots and laptop images. With real customers amongst us, we carried on shooting (with their permission to be background action) and as a Branding Photographer Manchester, added some realistic, though commercial looking images for Mia’s folio.
The second section was the (then empty) warehouse area at the rear of the showroom. My idea was to photograph Mia quite small amongst the interior environment, so it looked like a blank canvas for her to work with. I think we did very well, as the negative space in the images allows for graphics and text to be included at a later date. As a Branding Photographer Manchester, you have to think outside the box sometimes. That, and my ex-TV days has me creating images with potential space as standard.
The final 30 mins was using the rear loading bay and yard. That blue wall and shutter door were just awesome to work with! I love the collection, and am very pleased as a Branding Photographer Manchester with this project.
