Professional Photo Magazine
Professional Photo magazine is the only in-print professional photography magazine in the UK. Not only in-print, but online too, the magazine is a firm favourite for pro photographers up and down the land. Expertly run by Terry Hope, each monthly copy features both new talent, and the more established photographers and content creators world-wide. I have been a subscriber to the magazine since it started a few years ago, and have also written articles for it, tested cameras and equipment, and even recently interviewed one of the most respected photographers in the world - Sebastiao Salgado. A dream come true. You can see the article here. And he signed my ‘Amazonia’ book too!
Terry contacted me to be part of the magazines ‘Second Time Around’ feature, where Pro Photographers get to use their dream kit on a shoot. I opted for the new Nikon Z7II camera and 24-70mm zoom lens combination for this project, loaned by those lovely people at MPB.
Bridal Reloved Southport
I was asked to photograph a styled shoot for Bridal Reloved in Southport. Bridal Reloved are one of the largest Bridal chains in the UK, and describe themselves as…

We sell high end pre-owned wedding dresses through out our award winning, friendly and welcoming boutiques. Wedding dresses are either brand new, ex-sample or worn once and cleaned. Styled Model Shoot at Southport Masonic Hall
The location for the shoot was to be the Masonic Hall in Southport, where Bridal Reloved have one of their shops. Gaynor, the manager there contacted me with all the finer details about what we shooting, with who and when. In other words, lets just have some fun and shoot what we want to! A great brief!
The crew consisted of Nicola & Laura as models. Nicola is an experienced plus-size model who I know and have worked with a few times - great fun and knows how to ‘work it baby!’ Laura has never modelled before and just wanted to have a go and see what the experience was like. Well, believe me, as a first time model, Laura was brilliant!
With a range of dresses for our models, we wanted to show bridal wear for any size bride without any stereotyping. Two gorgeous ladies, each very different in character, build and tolerance to my sarcasm. They were brilliant to work with!
Back stage we had the very talented Faye Ellison on makeup duties, and the industry-standard Duncan Fisher on Hair. Great working with the guys again, as I sometimes get to with my ‘Saturday Job’ at weddings…

Possibly the largest and best used Photo equipment specialists in the UK, MPB loaned me a stunning mint Nikon Z7II camera with a 24-70mm f2.8 lens to see what I thought of it for the shoot. I was blown away with the quality of the camera (and their delivery and collection service too!) I have dealt with MPB for a few years now, both buying and selling equipment through them. They are always fair on price, and their customer service is top drawer too.
Commercial Photographer Manchester
This combined project for Professional Photo magazine and Bridal Reloved in Southport is a good example of my being a Commercial Photographer Manchester. By bringing my experience from my wedding work, this styled shoot was a perfect chance to shoot some photography using a camera I have never used before.
